Xmas Tournament - Saturday 8th Dec 2012

-----------------------------------------------------------

Its all about the Olympics in 2012!

--------------------------------------------------------------

FOR THOSE NEW TO FUTSAL, BELOW ARE THE KEY RULES YOU WILL NEED TO KNOW FOR THE TOURNAMENT:

1 - Futsal is played indoors usually on a wooden or artificial surface. The playoffs will use a large sports hall with a wooden surface.

2 - The size of the pitch is around the same size as a basketball or hockey pitch.

3 - There are pitch markings meaning that just as in 11-aside football the ball will go out of play for corners, goal kicks, etc....

4 - Futsal rules try to keep the game moving quickly so once the ball goes out of play the team in possession of the ball have 4 seconds once they get the ball to take kick-ins, corners, free-kicks, etc....

5 - When the ball goes out of play either a goal kick, corner or kick-in will be awarded. When a kick-in is taken the ball has to be on the line and the person taking it cannot have either foot over the line and on the pitch until after the kick-in is taken.

6 - There are no height restrictions and the ball can go anywhere just as in 11-aside. Also both keepers and players are allowed anywhere on the pitch including either penalty area.

7 - Each team is allowed a 1 minute time-out in either half of a match to have a team talk just like in basketball.

8 - Although slide tackling is now allowed in futsal, for health and safety reasons we will not allow slide tackling on the day.

9 - The futsal ball is a size 4 ball which is slightly heavier and has less bounce than a regular football meaning that the ball stays on the ground a lot more.

10 - If any team commits 5 fouls in either half of a game a penalty is awarded to the opposition team for every subsequent foul after that.

11 - Futsal goal posts are roughly the same size as hockey goals.

12 - Each team is allowed to bring a squad of up to 12 players (5 on the pitch + 7 substitutes ready to come on). No more than 5 players from either side will be allowed on the pitch at any time which includes the goal keeper.

13 - Substitutions are roll on roll off at any time during the game as long as the player being replaced is completely off the pitch before the player entering the game goes onto the pitch. A team can make as many substitutions as they want during a game.

14 - When a free-kick, corner or kick-in is being taken the opposition players must stand at least 2 meters away from the ball.
